Short answer: no. AvaTrade has no commission on forex trades. You pay the spread. That's your trading cost. A partner code has no impact on spreads.
The code 128979 activates the bonus program. Additional trading capital depending on your deposit. Nothing more complicated than that.

$2,000 gets you $400.
Deposits between $5,000 and $9,999 get $1,000.

The code field isn't obvious
When you're signing up. Below the phone field, look for small text that says "Have a Partner Code?" with an arrow next to it. Click the arrow. A field drops down. Type **128979**.
Most people miss it because it doesn't look like a proper form field until you click.
Sometimes it shows as invalid, don't worry. Finish signing up. Contact support before funding. Request partner code 128979 be added. They handle this regularly.
There's a catch with the bonus
You need to trade a certain volume.
About 10,000 units for every dollar of bonus. You'd need to trade 2,000,000 units to unlock a $200 bonus. Can take time with smaller position sizes. Happens faster than you'd think if you're active.
Your deposit is yours. Access it whenever you need. Only the bonus has the restriction.
Worth mentioning: locked bonus funds still contribute to your margin. You can hold larger positions than your deposit alone would allow. Newer traders benefit from that extra cushion.
